Tuesday 21st Week of Ordinary Time

Hypocrisy

A hypocrite is someone who pretends to be what they are not.

Jesus accused the Pharisees of being hypocrites.

Because they cleansed the outside but not the inside.

Outside they fasted and appeared to be praying.

But inside their hearts had no mercy or love.

We may fool our neighbor with our outward acts of piety;

But God sees what is in our hearts.

And unless there is forgiveness and mercy and love in our hearts

We are no different than the Pharisees.
