33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time

Too Busy

WhiteTowerThessaloniki (3).JPG
The Thessalonians who lived in the town of Thessaloniki in Greece;
Thought that Jesus was going to come back right away;
In their lifetime.

So some of them just stopped working.
They thought what was the point.

So rather than being busy,
They became busybodies,
Worrying about what everyone else was doing.

And Paul told them to get back to work.
For No one knows when the Lord will return.

When the Lord does return it will be like a thief in the night.
Without warning!

Nowadays however it is quite the opposite.

No one really believes the Lord is coming back;
At least not in our lifetime;

So everyone is busy;
Too busy!
Running everywhere and getting no where.
Like a rat on a wheel.

We need to keep busy;
But not so much that we forget
That We are leaving everything behind.

When we work realizing that what we build and what we buy
Will all be gone one day;

It Changes our work.
Work no longer becomes an end in itself.
Possessions no longer possess us.

We become free to enjoy this life
And are better prepared for the next.

Coming to Mass reminds us of this.
Mass slows us down;
It is a time to rest with the Lord
And get off the wheel
And refocus and reorient our lives.

If you knew that Jesus was coming back next week.
What would you do?

Well maybe try doing a little of that now,
And it will make this life a little better,
And we will be more prepared for the next life
All At the same time.
