According to his conduct Mt. 16:27
One day Jesus is going to come with His angels,
In His Father’s glory;
And then He will repay all according to his conduct. Mt. 16:27
Many people at hearing this would say,
Well I have not killed anyone;
I have not committed adultery;
I have stolen anything;
And think that is enough.
Sin however comes in two forms.
What we have done,
And what we have failed to do.
It is not enough to avoid evil.
We must also do good.
What good have we done?
Have we fed the hungry and given drink to the thirsty?
Have we welcomed strangers?
Have we cared for the sick?
Have we clothed the naked?
Have we visited those in prison?
Have we buried the dead?
These are the Corporal Works of Mercy.
And then there are the Spiritual Works of Mercy.
Do we bear wrongs patiently?
Do we forgive freely?
Do we comfort the afflicted?
Do we pray for the living and the dead?
The Corporal Works of Mercy are concerned with our body
And the Spiritual Works of Mercy with our souls.
It is not enough to feed the soul by going to church and then starve the hungry in the streets.
And it is not enough to feed the hungry in the streets and then starve the soul by not going to church.
What we do in Church we must do in the street.
Does what we do reflect what we believe?
Because Jesus is going to repay all not only according to what we pray but also according to our conduct.
According to what we have done and what we have failed to do.
