3rd Sunday of Advent

Everyone is excited and looking forward to Christmas.

But are we as excited as when we come to Mass?

Is there any difference.?

Is there any difference Between Christmas and Mass?

Between what happened  2,000 yrs ago

And what is happening here and now?

At Christmas Christ came to Bethlehem.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

The Savior of the world was laid in a manger.

The angels sang Glory to God in the highest.

And The Shepherds and the wise men came to adore.

At Mass Christ comes to this church

The Word becomes Flesh and dwells among us in the Eucharist

The Savior of the world is laid upon this altar

The angels sing Glory to God in the highest.

And The poor and the rich come to adore.

At Mass is where the First Christmas becomes real again.

For us.

Just as God became flesh and dwelt among us in a stable

So at Mass God becomes flesh and dwells among us  on the altar.

At Mass we do not remember Christmas, we become part of it.

At Mass we are the shepherds and the wise men.

At Mass the angels sing Glory to God in the highest

And at Mass the Word becomes flesh and not only dwells among us

But WITHIN us at Communion

This is why St. Paul tells us to Rejoice!

The Lord is near.

Not just at the door;

Or on the altar;

But in our hearts for those open to receive Him.

Do we Rejoice that we are here at Mass?

Do we look as forward to coming to Mass as much as  we look forward to Christmas?

We should because there is really no difference!
