We are the laborers. Mt. 9:37
The harvest is great!
The broken, The lost; the depressed;
The sick and the dying;
War, shootings, and crime;
There are people everywhere living in these fields
Who need to be harvested from them;
Before they are lost.
And so we need laborers.
That is when everyone starts looking at each other wondering who is going to go.
This is not a job for the few but for everyone.
When we walk out the door not of our house but our bedroom
We are in the fields.
Our families, our friends our neighbors, the stranger on street
Are in the fields.
Needing to be brought in;
When Mother Teresa would look out her window in Calcutta,
She would see a sea of people,
Living and dying in the slums.
At first it looks overwhelming;
Where does one start?
And she would say,
“One at a time .”
Who needs a helping hand ?
Who needs a little love ?
Who is struggling ?
Who needs to be lifted up?
Just one person reaching out to one other person,
Is all it takes.
When everyone goes into the field
The work is much easier and the harvest is greater
When only a few go, they cannot keep up and so much is lost.
This is not the work of a few but of everyone.
And when everyone helps out,
In great or small ways
Then the harvest is plenty.
