19th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Bread for the Journey

Elijah the prophet was having a bad day.
Jezebel was hunting him down to kill him,
So he fled into the desert and prayed,
“O God just take my life!”
Elijah was tired of running, tired of trying;
And just wanted to give up.

But God sent him an angel,
Who had a hearth cake and a jug of water for him.
And told him to get up and eat because the journey was long.

He had to walk 40 days to Mount Horeb,
Where he would meet God!

Everyone has a bad day.
Some worse than others
Some Where you just want to give up.

It is on those days,
That God sends us,
Not an angel, but His only Son.

And not with a hearth cake and a jug of water,
But with His very Body to eat and Blood to drink.

Because the journey in this life is long.
And when it ends ,
We too are going to meet God face to face.

When life gets hard;
And the day too long;
And you just want to give up.

Jesus is there.
Offering us His Body and Blood for the journey.

Those who taste it,
Will see how good God is.

Maximilian Kolbe went down into the starvation bunker in Auschwitz.

While his stomach was starving;
His soul was filled with joy, and peace and even love for his enemies.
Because he had eaten the Bread of Life;
The Body and Blood of Jesus throughout his life.

To all those who find life difficult;
And just want to give up.

Jesus says,
“Take this all of you and eat of it;
For this is My Body.”

That I give for your life and the life of the world!

God Bless
