Pentecost

The disciples were all in one room praying

for the Holy Spirit. 

And suddenly tongues of fire;

Came over them 

And they were set on Fire!

with love for God

And zeal to tell others. 

They went from 11 cowering, fearful,

Hiding men who didn’t know what to say or do;

To preachers and teachers and healers

Undaunted and unafraid of life or death. 

Thousands were baptized; 

And the Faith spread like wildfire.

And it continues to spread 

because people pray for the Holy Spirit

 to fill enkindle in their hearts the fire of His Love. 

St. Francis was a young, popular man of the world,

And then the Holy Spirit set him on Fire to Rebuild the Church. 

Mother Teresa was a petit 5 ft. nun from Albania

And then the Holy Spirit set her on Fire to go into the slums of Calcutta;

They were just ordinary people 

Who caught Fire. 

We too are disciples of Jesus;

And we have gathered in this room to pray. 

Are we praying for the Holy Spirit to come upon us?

Do we dare ask

To be set on Fire!
