30th Sunday of Ordinary Time

An idol is not just some statue made out of clay that people kneel down and worship.

And idol is also something or someone for which a person feels passionate about;

Obsessed about

to the point where it takes up the majority of their time and thoughts.

For some therefore, Money is an idol;

They spend most of their time trying to make more.

For others sports is their idol as they plan their day and lives around the game;

For others pleasure is their idol as they do anything and desire everything that gives them pleasure.

For others it is politics, power, food or how one looks that consumes their time and energy.

Now after reflecting upon our lives and how we spend out time and what we think about the most,

Do we Love God with all our hearts, with all our soul and with all our mind?

Are we just as much concerned about our neighbor as we are about ourselves?

Love is not love unless God is loved most of all and our neighbor is just as important as ourselves.

Otherwise everything that we love,

Is just idol worship.
