Wednesday 11th Week of Ordinary Time

  God sees everything Mt. 6:1-18

Sometimes we cannot see beyond our nose. 

Our vision is limited by our desires and our prejudices

By What we read and to what we listen. 

God however sees everything,

From the top of the highest mountain to the deepest depths of the human heart. 

Therefore do not do things for others to see and hear. 

For they are blind and deaf. 

Instead do it all For God Who sees all and knows all,

And Who will repay according to what He sees and hears. 

Tuesday 11th Week of Ordinary Time

 Love your enemies Mt. 5:43-48

In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus offers His most radical teaching that is very seldom put into practice. 

He teaches us to offer no resistance to evil

And now He tells us to love our enemies. 

For if we hate our enemies and persecute them.  

Then we are no different than them. 

But if we love them and pray for them 

Then we show that we are children of our Heavenly Father

And on the road to being perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect. 

Monday 11th Week of Ordinary Time

Offer no resistance Mt. 5:38-42

Jesus tells us to offer no resistance to one who is evil. 

How can He say that. 

Then evil will flourish. 

If we offer no resistance to evil then evil cannot flourish in our hearts. 

Evil will have its day,

But we must not lose heart. 

Because while evil may have its day,

God has His eternity. 

So do not be afraid to turn the other cheek. 

For an eye for an eye only leads to blindness. 

The Holy Trinity 2025

The Holy Trinity is one God composed of three Persons.

How can there be three distinct persons and yet only one God?

We are distinct persons and our bodies are made up of separate substances. 

But the Holy Trinity is Three persons made up of One and the SAME substance;

Love!

Not just any kind of love, 

but a total self giving Love. 

in which one Person gives everything He has to Another. 

Holding absolutely nothing back 

Without fear of losing anything. 

Without fear the other person will have more 

And someone else might have less.

The Father has given everything He has over to the Son Mt. 11:27

And the gift that is given is the Holy Spirit. 

This is Divine Love. 

The total, absolute self giving of One to Another.  

This continual giving of love means that none of the other persons go without;

none of the other persons has more or less than the other.

And what does the Holy Trinity have to do with us? 

Well, we are One parish made of Three distinct churches 

and hopefully what binds us together is love 

A love that is not competitive 

A love that is not afraid that one might have more than the other 

A love that seeks only to give, and in that giving finds everything it needs 

And therefore one does not have more or less than the others. 

And it is all Easy

if there is love!

Friday 10th Week of Ordinary Time

 Feast of St. Anthony of Padua

Many people pray to St. Anthony when they have lost SOMETHING such as their keys. 

Or When they are looking for SOMETHING. 

Like a parking place. 

But THINGS are not as important as PEOPLE!

So many people in the world are lost and can’t find their way. 

So next time ask St. Anthony to help you or someone else who is lost and can’t find their way in life.

And to seek his help to search not to find a parking spot,

But to search for those who have lost their way. 

Thursday 10th Week of Ordinary Time

The Judgement Mt. 5:20-26

On the Last Day there will be the Last Judgment

When we stand before Christ. 

And there will be no discussion; 

No excuses. 

For Christ sees all and knows all and His judgment is True and Just. 

And He will judge us on how we have treated our brother. 

It is not enough not to kill our brother or sister. 

We also must not be angry with our brother or sister. 

Because murder begins with anger in the heart. 

We may not agree with our brother,

But when are angry with him,

It becomes a seed that grows in our hearts. 

We must therefore strive to be reconciled rather

Before it can take root. 

Or we will have to pay the Last Penny Mt. 5:26

Wednesday 10th Week of Ordinary Time

 Feast of St. Barnabas 

Today is the feast of St. Barnabas. 

He was as close to being an Apostle as anyone was. 

As he knew Peter and Paul personally. 

He was very close to St. Paul as they journeyed together preaching the Gospel from Antioch to Athens. 

While both men are saints,

They did not always agree

And so they eventually separated and went their own way

preaching the Gospel

And shedding their blood for Christ. 

If two saints don’t always agree. 

Then we too can disagree once in awhile

And still practice the same Faith,

And love the same Lord.
