The Eucharist is something we RECEIVE
and something we DO.
What we receive is the actual Body and Blood of Christ.
Because at the Last Supper,
Jesus said,
“Take this all of you and eat of it.
For this is my Body!”
And then He said,
“Take this all of you and drink from it,
For this is the chalice of my Blood.”
As Catholics We take Jesus at His word.
As Catholics we are people of Faith,
That Jesus can do anything.
Even change bread and wine,
Into His Body and Blood.
And when we receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist,
Then God becomes flesh in us!
Then God, lives and moves and Has His being in us.
And Then we can do all things,
Even rise from the dead.
For He said,
“Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks my Blood,
Will never die.”
The Eucharist however is also something we DO!
For the word Eucharist comes from the Greek which means Thanksgiving.
We come here primarily to give Thanks to God,
We give Thanks for the Son of God becoming flesh and dwelling among us.
We give Thanks for Jesus dying on the cross which Redeems us from our sins.
We give Thanks for His Resurrection which gives us Eternal Life.
And yet in spite of all that we have already received some people say,
“They don’t get anything out of Mass!”
If someone is going to play in a championship game,
What do they have to do?
They have to prepare!
If they don’t prepare they will lose.
And those who do not prepare before they come to Mass
Will lose too!
They will lose all the grace that is offered.
They will lose the Peace that only Christ can give.
They will lose the Strength, the Confidence, the Courage
To face all that life throws at them.
They will lose the ability to laugh death in the Face,
While Those who prepare before they come to Mass,
Understand what is happening
And Are so Thankful,
Because they realize they are receiving the Body and Blood of Christ
And then those who have Christ within them,
Can never lose!
God Bless
