Complaining Ex. 17:3-7
What is it about human nature that likes to complain?
We complain about the weather.
We complain about waiting in line.
We complain about the traffic.
And I am not even going to mention how we complain about the Bishop or the President!!!
And yet with all of this complaining,
Does the weather change?
Does the line move faster?
Does the traffic flow better?
Complaining really does absolutely nothing,
Except……..Get ourselves worked up.
But What if Michael Jordan complained that practice was too hard?
What if Albert Einstein complained that school was boring?
What if Jesus complained that the cross was too heavy?
The Israelites complained that there was no water in the desert.
They had forgotten how God set them free from slavery.
How God split the Red Sea for them
How God gave them Manna in the desert to eat.
Instead they complained that the God who had done all these great things
And Who was leading them to a land flowing with Milk and Honey
Was going to leave them to die of thirst in the desert!
Rather than remember all that God had done for them and was going to do,
They chose to complain there was no water
And all that complaining only made their mouths drier!!
I too have been known to complain at times.
But I find when I complain too much or too loudly
I can’t hear what God is trying to tell me.
I have found that Trusting in God gets me a lot farther than Complaining.
Sometimes the weather is not what I want.
And the line is too long and the traffic is not moving
But when I remember all that God has done for me.
And all that God will do;
And I complain a little less
And Trust a little more.
And that is all I need to get by.
