24th Sunday of Ordinary Time

 Forgive 77 times. Mt. 18:21-35

Fool me once,

Shame on you!

Fool me twice;

Shame on me!

Fool me 77 times;

What does that make me?

Like God!

God’s forgiveness is endless

For those who ask for it.

After Jesus was betrayed by a kiss;

Denied by His friend;

Rejected by the religious leaders;

Judged by Pilate;

Scourged 40 times;

Spit upon and crowned with thorns;

Forced to carry His own cross;

Stripped of His clothing;

Nailed to a cross,

Mocked by those walking by;

Had his clothes rolled for with dice;

I would say that all of these things,

Total to about 77 times;

What did Jesus do?

He said;

“Father forgive them for they know not what they do. “

We are very good at making excuses on why NOT to forgive someone.

If only we were just as good coming up with reasons to forgive;

Then we would better understand

Why God is always so willing to forgive us!
