25th Sunday of Ordinary Time

God is not Fair Mt. 20:1-16

Life is not always fair. 

Some people have more than others. 

Some people get all the breaks.

Sometimes Bad things happen to good people.

Sometimes that is the way life is. 

The Pharisees thought that because they went to the Temple every week;

Because they were good people not like those tax collectors and prostitutes;

Because they ave to the collection and supported the Temple;

That they would be the first and found out  instead they would be last. 

They were upset because they did not receive what they thought they deserved. 

God however is not always fair!

After all God did not come to reward the righteous,

But to save sinners;

So sometimes God forgives sinners rather than punish them;

Sometimes God welcomes tax collectors rather than shun them;

And sometimes God rains on the just AND the unjust.

Sometimes God’s Mercy, Love and generosity can seem baffling;

Almost unfair. 

But is it?

After all it is God’s grace;

It is God’s Mercy;

It is God’s love;

And if He chooses to be generous with it,

Who are we to say it is unfair!

Perhaps one day 

God will be unfair to us;

And forgives us, love us, and bless us,

Even When we do not deserve it.
